The Rexburg Community Theatre Summer Musical's 10th Anniversary will be Meredith Wilson's, "The Music Man."
Ann Cluff, the musical's director said they chose "The Music Man" a few different reasons.
"We try to pick a family-friendly musical and we try to pick a musical that the community members are going to be interested in," said Cluff. "It's just very Americana, it's very mom, apple pie and the Fourth of July."
The cast includes over 100 people from Rexburg and surrounding communities who all volunteer to participate in this production. Cluff said the overall story and music is fun for the whole family and the Rexburg Community Theater has been working had.
"It's kind of a series of events," said Cluff. "There's fun dance numbers...we're having a lot of fun with the choreography."
Cluff said her favorite part of directing is seeing the process from the beginning to the end.
"It's kind of like being an artist with a blank canvas. You start off withal of these great ideas, you have this green cast, and they don't know each other. Some of them have never been in a production before in their life, others have been," said Cluff. "It's like I'm throwing colors on a canvas, and as it grows that picture comes into view and becomes a piece of art and for me that's a joy, but really it's watching the cast but watching the community appreciate all that they've gone through and watching them enjoy and having that experience."
This is the theater's tenth anniversary and encourages everyone to join them for this production. The show begins June 23, 24 and 26 at 7 pm at the Madison Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $8 for adults 18 and up, and children ages 3 to 17 are $6. More information can be found on their website.
