One event in Rexburg is giving people the chance to travel back to mid-evil times.
The East Idaho Renaissance Faire is scheduled for the weekends of July 21-22 and 28-29. The event is a great time to "take a break from the technological woes of modern society and transport yourself to a time of battle-hardened knights, fair maidens, and roving jesters," according to their website.
Matthew Jensen has been working hard to get everything ready for Rexburg's first ever Renaissance Faire.
"I wanted to do something that was fun, and I know that Rexburg's really big on events so I really think it was a good opportunity," said Jensen.
Jensen said this event will be a bit different from other Renaissance Faires because they want to keep it as family-friendly as possible.
"There's a huge bulk of people who are looking for family-friendly activities that they can take their kids to," said Jensen. "We specifically geared our fair to be family-friendly. Most Renaissance Faire's have lots of alcohol so we did something very unique with Renaissance Faire's, we've banned all alcohol and tobacco on the premises. The whole goal is to make it as family-friendly as possible."
Jensen heads a team of volunteers who are putting this event together. The event will include craft workshops, different shows and performances and the Tournament of Champions, where knights in armor will display their battlefield skills.
