Doesn’t everyone deserve something special on Christmas? This holiday season, Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership is helping local families in need. This has been a difficult year for many, and EICAP is donating food to give families in need a special meal.
“We love to provide members of the community with as much as possible,” said Terin Peck, the intake clerk at the Rexburg EICAP office. “We receive many donations often, but we love to help during the holiday seasons to provide something special.”
Peck is also a BYU-Idaho alumnus and graduated in July. She has worked at EICAP for about a month, and said she enjoys her time helping locals in need.
“Just seeing their face, knowing that they are in need and we are able to help… it makes a big difference for myself and for the people we do help,” Peck said.
EICAP is asking for donations of holiday food, such as packaged stuffing, packaged mashed potatoes, canned cranberry sauce, canned fruit and especially frozen meats like ham or turkey.
“They can have something that makes the holidays a little more special, especially for those who can afford to provide for themself and their family,” Peck said.
This isn’t the first year EICAP has donated frozen meats to families in need. This year, some of their usually full containers of frozen meat have been left empty from a lack of donations.
“We do have freezers here and definitely want them to be full especially during this holiday season,” Peck said. “I would assume that it is a bit harder with COVID going on and that affecting people’s lives and the way that they provide for their families.”
Donations of food can be dropped off at the EICAP Rexburg office, 275 Stationary Place, during their business hours. They prefer donations to be dropped off Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
